Perl script terminating - perl510.dll missing

A script is terminating on system error "...because perl510.dll is
missing from your computer".
This is an 'oldish' script, in that it was developed and run under a
previous version of perl and this is the first time I've run it since
installing 5.12. Other 'oldish' scripts have run successfully.

The script is question contains use Date::Simple (':all'). Is this
likely what is trying to load something from perl510.dll?
ppm shows that Date::Simple 3.03 is available and is also the version
that is installed.

I'm running perl 5, version 12, subversion 4 (v5.12.4) built for
MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
(with 9 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

How do I fix this? Is there documentation available that discusses
this type of situation that i could refer to if/when something similar
comes up in the future. (I have quite a few 'oldish' perl scripts that
might encounter this type of issue.)

TIA,
Phil
