webdav in vista 32 vs. 64 bit

My ability to do webdav seems to be depending on the operating system
i am trying to connect from, this being 64 or 32 bit vista. I am doing
indentical steps on each.

here are my steps, you should be able to reproduce it:
map netwrok drive -> click "connect to a website that can be used to
store your documents" -> click next -> "choose a custom location" ->
next -> the webdav URL is https://www.engr.uconn.edu/ece/ -> try to
click next. If you are prompted to authenicate it is working. If you
get an error about invalid path, it is not working.

On all the 64 bit machines, with or without the msft patch applied, i
get an error "
"the network path is invalid" when i try to proceed. In the 32 bit
machines, with or without the patch, this works though.

here is the patch (which is not needed anyway)
Download details: Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306)

can someone verify these results

While WebDav, in theory, is superior to Frontpage extensions, it still sucks
and lacks common support. Often, FTP is used instead.

With all due respect-- that is quite an ignorant reply.
