Re: Adobe Dreamweaver vs. FrontPage 2003

You would create those effects in an image editor, like Photoshop, not in
any web designing software.

If you're gonna go with DW then buy one of the CS3 Suites that include
Illustrator and Photoshop and DW then after a long while you will be able to
create eggsactly what you are looking for.

OR you could buy EW, Photoshop and also Illustrator and do the same thing.

EW & DW both have trial versions, I encourage you download and try them
both.

I was wondering if a FP2003 site can do the same thing as a Dreamweaver
site? I am very new to web design so before I spent tons of money I just
wanted to ask. I prefer the glass look of Linux and vista. I also like the
Icons from OSX. I was wondering if FP2003 can make Icons, Files, and
WebPages look like super wet glass and liquid metals such high quality as
the polymorphic terminators in T3. I have attached a PNG file that I would
like my entire site to look like. Is this possible using layers in FP2003.

Re: Adobe Dreamweaver vs. FrontPage 2003

you can do the same things with each program.
it's all about how well you learn to use them.
FWIW; you could do the same thing with notepad if you absolutely had to.

I think you just need to separate in your mind a web dev tool (Expression
Web, Dreamweaver, etc.) from an image tool like Expression Design,
Photoshop, Fireworks, etc.

to do what you want you will need a tool to create the graphics and another
tool to lay them out into HTML pages.

Re: Adobe Dreamweaver vs. FrontPage 2003

Yes.

The Expression Suite includes Expression Design which can create graphics,
although IMO ED is not quite finished and doesn't compete with Illustrator
or Photoshop yet. Currently it's mostly vector graphics with limited raster
(pixel) capability, but I think this may change in future releases. I think
ED will be an excellent program if/when they put the raster capability back
in it.

The graphic you posted would be best created in a vector graphics program,
then exported or saved as a jpg...Illustrator is great but expensive, Xara
Xtreme Pro is another one which is easy to use and not so expensive.
Expression Design can do the same...try them all they all have trials.
Graphics and images are a separate affair from your web design software so
you will have to have and learn to use one anyway. Plan on spending a few
months learning to use a graphic design software, no matter which web design
software you go with.
