Implementation of Apache based custom webdav server

How can we implement apache based custom webdav server?

Which is the right way to do this?

1. replace default provider filesystem (mod_dav_fs) with custom module
2. write http modules that handle webdav commands like, mkcol, delete,
propfind, proppatch, put, get, lock, unlock, etc.

Please redirect me to right group, If off-topic. thanks.

It all depends on what would be "Custom" about it.
Are you sure the customization you need can't be obtained
with configuration options, in other words, that you
really need to develop a new module?

If so, it will be more productive to ask in an Apache
developer forum. This newsgroup takes Apache "as is" and
only discusses configuration topics.

Yes, we need to handle data streams both ways, in and out .

thanks.

But, I think, "webdav" deserves separate newsgroups, like
http, smtp, etc.

Yes, it does. Well, at least it has its own website:
http://www.webdav.org/
Perhaps you can find some pointers there, though I only
found an webdav announcement mailing list.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Good luck!

It seems that there is no much interest with webdav. I am not getting
any
response from online forums. Even, www.webdav.org home page is more
than 6 months old.

I just doubt that internet community is dumping webdav in favor of
up coming new standards. (?!)

can you please give me some pointers, where I can get some useful info.

Except for the sources,
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/httpd/httpd/trunk/modules/dav/
, I have no idea where to find info.
Perhaps you can mail one of the webdav developers?

Good luck.

Subversion can use an Apache server using webdav protocol. The SVN book
describes installation of Apache with Webdav. See
http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.4/svn.serverconfig.httpd.ht ml
