I have created a graphic when I insert it into my page it shows with a thin
white line on the lefthand side and the bottom. When I check it in "Preview"
or "Preview in Browser" the white line at the bottom disappears the the one
of the left remains however it is slightly thinner. I have tried the graphic
in png gif and jpg formats, they all have the same problem. I have made the
background of the graphic file the same colour as the page colour but it
makes no difference. I then tried in the gif and png formats to make the
background colour transparent in the graphic file, same problem.

Any help you can offer will be much appreciated.

Have you right clicked on the image, selected properties and set the border to zero?

It's also possible the OP has reduced the size of the image in the image
editor, resulting in the border around it (darned if I can remember what
it's called). It could be cropped ever so slightly to get rid of it.

I don't think so.

Sometimes when you reduce the size of an image (it happens in, for example,
MS Image Composer) it leaves a little pixilated border. Then, you have to
crop to get rid of it.

Actually IC leave a transparent 1 or 2 pixel wide (in my case on the left side) when I reduce the
size of the image, and it will save in the color I had set as my canvas background.

I should have mentioned in my posting that all borders are set to zero. I
created the graphic myself as a vector graphic then imported it into a
program where I converted it to the png. When I imported that into FP there
was the border, so I went back and put the vector file into a square filled
with the exact background colour as the background on the webpage. While
converting the file to png and gif I made that background colour transparent
so I don't see how it could have a border around it. Also tried it as a jpg,
same problem. Any other suggestions?

Your definition is appreciated. Also, I went back into my image editing
program and cropped the graphic and now it has inserted clean. I am using
CorelDraw and Corel PhotoPaint and when I changed it to a bitmap in CorelDraw
and imported it into Corel PhotoPaint it must (as you suggested) leave a few
pixels around the border without colour. Frustration temporarily over. I say
temporarily because I find FP a very frustrating program to work with. The
help file search engine is not very intuitive and the explanations I can find
sometimes leave a lot to be desired.

Your image issue had nothing to do with FrontPage. It had to do with the

It also happens with programs like Illustrator when placing a illustrator
vector into Photoshop sometimes the resulting jpg (or whatever) will pickup
a thin frame...sometimes all around sometimes one side.
