Slow page loads for AOL subscribers

Hi all,

I run a website that has a number of subscribers in the UK. I've
recently received a number of complaints of slow page loads, all of
these from subscribers using AOL UK as an ISP.

Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do to ensure a
faster page load for these clients?

I've tried to contact AOL but no one there seems to be able to help.
Is there another contact address/phone number at AOL that I can use?

Thanks,

Paul

If it's concentrated with AOL, then there is really nothing you can
do. It's usually an AOL problem and it is their responsibility to
resolve. You should make sure your clients understand that you are not
at fault (human psychology says that most AOL users frequently think
your website, and not AOL, is at fault -- and since responsibility is
not properly placed by its users, AOL has little incentive to care or
help you -- does this make sense?)

For example, AOL funnels their users into a common proxy bank of
servers. If there is any problems/bottlenecks there, then there is
nothing you can do to work around it.

Yes, it's aggravating, but the best you can do is educate people so
that they make better decisions.
