Can Sharepoint Services and FrontPage Coexist

I just tried to install Sharepoint Services v3.0 on a Windows 2003 Server
running Frontpage Services and got an error. It suggested that Sharepoint
Services must replace FP services. Is this the case or can I get the two to
run independently?

Many thanks.

Re: Can Sharepoint Services and FrontPage Coexist

Suggest you post this to the Windows Server newsgroup and/or IIS Newsgroup.

Re: Can Sharepoint Services and FrontPage Coexist

It's actually more a question for
microsoft.public.sharepoint.setup_and_administration

(Any SharePoint product - Installation and *Admin* questions)

Although I can see your idea with Windows Server, WSS 3.0 is a
*separate* download of an application for installation on Windows Server
2003 (or soon 2008) rather than part of the server system.

Basically the first version of one SharePoint product path - SharePoint
Team Services (2001) - included a superset of FP server extensions.
That's why FP Server Extensions couldn't be already installed on a
server at the time STS was installed.

This requirement has continued for the later versions WSS 2.0 and WSS 3.0

Note to Andrew: .sharepoint.design_and_customization is not for Admin
questions but for questions about the kind of customization of (mainly
the look) of WSS 3.0 (and other SP products) sites that you use
SharePoint Designer 2007 for.
