Hover buttons and effects
I've used the hover buttons on my site but I've got some questions.
When my page loads it highlights the buttons before turning them to the
correct color. When I select one of the buttons it does the same thing.
Is there a way to not have this happen?
I'm using FP 2000 ver. 4.0.2
Thanks again,
Don.......

Re: Hover buttons and effects
You really need to avoid using the Java Hover button applet, as users that do not have a Java
Virtual Machine installed, will not be able to navigate your site.
In response to your question, you have no control of this and it is not a FP issue.

Re: Hover buttons and effects
I understand what you're saying about navigation, I never thought about
that. However I'm not sure what you mean when you say it's not an FP issue.
Isn't the feature part of FP? I find it detailed in the FP help menu.
I'm not trying to be difficult but I don't understand why you say it's not
an FP issue.
Does this mean that the other features in the "Insert menu", in particular
"Insert/Component/Marquee" is also not part of FP?
Thanks for your reply and help,

Re: Hover buttons and effects
You should not use the Marquee option either, not only is it passe but it
only works in IE.
Same for anything in FP's Draw toolbar.
Java Hover buttons rely on Java so you're viewers would need Sun's JVM
installed on their machine - if they don't have it (which many machines do
NOT since the lawsuit a few years back, you viewers will just see a gray box
((or maybe nothing)).

Re: Hover buttons and effects
Gottacha,
I was just doing some research on FP and read about Microsoft Expression
Web. I'm guessing I can upgrade to it from FP, yes??
So I'm going to remove all the "hover" effects from my website, starting
later tonight or tomorrow.
Is there any software that MS has, or anyone else has for that matter, that
will give me these same types of effects?
Though I know now they won't work on all machines it doesn't change the fact
that they look nice on my machine when I use them. I'd like to find
something that could do the same thing but be viewed by everyone.
Any suggestions,
Thanks for all your help and patience with my questions and my inexperience,
Don...........

Re: Hover buttons and effects
DHTML is the answer to replacing hover buttons.
IIRC, DHTML requires FP 2003 or above.

Re: Hover buttons and effects
Is not an FP issue since FP has no control over how a browser handles a Java applet, such as the FP
hover button or Banner Ad Manager applets.
The marquee was a IE only tag, but is now supported by current versions of Netscape, FireFox and
Opera, at least under Windows.

FYI, DHTML was avaialable at least as early as FP 2002, which is what I
still use.
