Form spam from web site

Please help with some guidance.

I am trying to help a friend with her web site as she is getting massive
amounts of bot spam. I told her about Captcha - she wants me to set it up.
I am at a loss on setting this up for her as I use FP 2003 and she hosts her
site at godaddy. I have no idea what can or can not be done, how or what code
to use, or if a form validation field would be best. The forms on her site
were done in FP.

Any ideas welcome - specific instructions also welcom too.

Thanks!

Re: Form spam from web site

See http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/anti-spam/ for some information
and ideas.

Effective HIP (Human Interface Proof) devices require server side
scripting (asp, asp.net, PHP etc.). Local validation using JavaScript
is next to useless when it comes to defeating spammers -they turn
Javascript off.

RE: Form spam from web site

ok thanks for the answer, I have read and reread many different things and I
am not sure I understand as of yet, so thanks in advance for your tolerance
of my questions.

from what I am understanding I cannot use a captcha if I use front page form
handler, corect?

If I resave the form as an asp, can I then use the captcha?

My friend signed up for an account and keys from recaptha.net, but I am at a
loss as to if I can use this or even how to start.

Thanks again,

Kim

Re: Form spam from web site

Also, she would need to use a new email address, that has never been posted on the internet.

Re: Form spam from web site

www.coffeecup.com has a nice form builder/ handler with a captcha feature.
since it's a flash form I doubt the captcha is necessary but it's there.
tested it and it works well and is easy to use.
