Hello,

Our company intranet was running on our 2003 SBS. I recently demoted this
server to a member server. Now our company web no longer works.

When I open my web brower and go to the URL, a login prompt pops up now,
however even when I attemp to login, the login prompt still keeps coming back.

I went into IIS and to the properties of the website. I went to the
authentication section and change it to anonymous. Now the web page comes up
and says "access denied"

What could be the problem? I would really like to get it fixed.

It has to do with your NTFS permissions.
By removing the server from the domain, you now have unknown users and
maybe these unknown users are in your NTFS permissions on the Inetpub
folder and it's root folders.
make sure to re-apply your permissions the proper way again.
start by giving everyone full control and then re-tighten the security
back

That sounds like it's in the right direction and I did not check that,
however I only demoted this server to a member server from a domain
controller (The server is still part of the domain, just not a domain
controller). I am assuming any shares and permissions should have remained,
but I will check that.

you're right it is now a member server and not in workgroup but
everytime I had that problem it ended up to be NTFS permissions.
also IUSR needs access to some system files as list and read
