I am running a solaris 9 box with sendmail 8.12.5. The machine has 2
interfaces one with a private IP (172.20.20.10) another with a public
ip.
I can telnet to port 25 on the private ip and the localhost but not on
the public ip.
I can send emails out but I cannot receive them.
I have set up a default route to the external ip. Any help will be
appreciated.

Firewall, either an external one or Solaris IPF.

The best tool for detecting/locating external firewalls is tcptraceroute
executed on "any internet host" (it is different than traceroute).
