Identity theft

Anyone know of any identity theft issues relating to Gmail? Can
someone get hold of your identity and use it to contact my own
contacts?

I think you should be fine if you use a wired connection and if you
are using firefox with the "Better Gmail" plugin. It has an option to
force https connections.
Oh, and watch that machine because there is always the "Keep me logged
in" feature and "remember password" feature that most browsers have.

I have not heard of identity theft issues relating to gmail yet. You
can always download your contact list as a csv file and erase
everything in gmail.

If someone also knows your email address and they know who you are
contacting, they can always spoof email which is really easy to do off
of an open smtp relay. The majority of email users don't know how to
trace an email to see who it really came from.

hope this answers your questions.

Hey, if you're worried about identity theft in gmail, or just generally,
I think that Zone Alarm Force Field might be a good program for you to
try. i'm working with the company to find users that might benefit from
it. Zone Alarm is a very reputable internet security company and our new
browser-based program, Force Field, asks as a barrier between you and
the internet, so keyloggeres, spyware, phishing, etc. can't get through
to your computer. If you'd like to learn more or even try our free beta
demo, it would be the perfect solution to your concerns.

Good luck to you!

Hey, don't be too hard on him. A lot of marketing types actually believe
this stuff.
