sendmail and pine
Hi everyone,
I use pine right now and I'm trying to configure sendmail to work
properly. I have two email addresses that I check in pine. Rather
than having to use the built-in smpt functionality in pine I want to
use sendmail. How can I configure sendmail to choose the proper smtp
server to send a message to based on the from address?
Thanks!

What's wrong with the built-in SMTP functionality in pine? I wish mutt
had it.

Don't try it with sendmail. Take a dedicated MSA, e.g. msmtp, it
can easily do what you want.
See http://msmtp.sourceforge.net/

Re: sendmail and pine
The built-in smtp is perfect for one email address. For two different
ones w/ separate smtp servers I have to keep typing user names and
passwords. I'll look into using msmtp though. Sendmail doesn't seem
like the right tool for my problem but pine seems to want either
sendmail or its own smtp.

I use msmtp with mutt and am quite happy with it.

msmtp emulates sendmail as far as command line parameters and exit
status codes are concerned.

Re: sendmail and pine
(Setup)(Config)(smtp-server) = localhost:587 seems to be the the best
way to go.
You could also use your hostname instead of localhost.
To vary for other sending mailboxes, set them here:
(Setup)(Rules)(Roles)[Role](use smtp server) = ...
PS: This query would have been better asked on comp.mail.pine.
