Hi,

I did the conversion and lost the portal. On the main layout I want
the portal to show records from "C&F Prospect Actions." The problem is
that "C&F Prospect Actions" is grayed out and listed as current table.
I don't know why.

I have buttons on this layout to go to other layouts that are exactly
the same except that these layouts only show a specific directors
prospect actions and I was able to set the portal perfectly. The
grayed out table is named "CFR Prospect Database" This is perfect and
should be the same on the main layout.

Arrgh! Please help a novice.

Each layout belongs to a single Table Occurance. Perhaps this has gone
wrong. Go to the layout> Go into layout mode > From the menu select
Layouts::Layout Setup > in the TAB general at Show Records From : select the
TO that belongs to this layout. Your layout probably now points to CFR
Prospect Database but should point to whatever TO serves as parent.

I haven't done any conversion, but reading other people's comments
there's one thing I would guess at: when you converted the multiple
FileMaker 5.0 files you lost the relationship. From what I've read,
this can happen when converting the files individually, whereas if you
convert them all at the same time it retains the relationships. To
convert the multiple files at the same time you have to drag all the
files onto the FileMaker 8.5 icon instead of double-clicking them.
