Odd control/filter behavior

Hello, I have an odd issue with a database I just stated working on.
I'm new to Filemaker Pro, so please forgive me if this is an easy
question. I'm working with 8.5.
The database is used to keep track of design jobs. Jobs can have a
status of "In Progress" "In Proofing" "To Vendor" "To Printshop" "Job
Completed" and "Job Cancelled," to name a handful. These values are
stored in the "Designer Status Types" value list.
We have a very simple layout for updating, displaying and searching
the database, including a drop-down control linked to the "Des_Status"
field, and which draws values from the "Designer Statues Types" value
list.
In the past, to list all jobs that that are marked "To Printshop," for
example, my colleagues would simply select "To Printshop" from the
pull-down control and hit "Find." Now, however, when we select a
value from the control and hit find, the results are very strange; we
get lists of various jobs that are not just marked "To Printshop," but
which might be marked "To Vendor," "In Progress," etc., and there
seems to be no rhyme or reason behind the results.

Since this is such a simple a search/filter and because I've been
through all the settings that I think might be affecting the results,
I'm at a complete loss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do you get into "searching", what do you do before choosing "To
Printshop" from the pop-up menu / list field??

If you're using a script that has the Enter Find Mode command in it,
then you may be restoring a stored Find request by accident - make sure
the command has the Restore option turned off.

Thanks for the help! We're not using a script; we simply go into
"find mode" in the layout and select "To Printshop" from the pull down
menu and click the "Find" button. It's very odd... Every other
control works as it should...

Thanks for the help, Harry. I think I figured out more aboutthe
nature of my problem and posted a new call for help:

Hello, I recently started working with a database that keeps track of
design projects.
The Projects table is linked to the Design Status table. During the
lifespan of a design job, the design status progresses from "New" to
"In Progress" to "Sent to Printer" to "Complete." These values are
stored in a value list. Each time the status is updated, a new record
in inserted in the Design Status table with the current date, the
status that the user selects, and any comments they wish to add.

My problem is as follows:
We have a layout to keep track of our design jobs, and this layout
contains a pull-down control linked to the Status field in the Design
Status table. When we enter "find" mode and select "Sent to Printer,"
for example, we would like to see only the jobs whose most recent
status is "Sent to Printer." Instead, we get any job that had ever
had a status of "Sent to Printer."

How can we make sure that we limit the results to oly those jobs whose
status is currently (most recently) that which we are looking for?

Thanks so much for any help.
