Cross compilation i386-linux to ia64-linux

Hey all,
I have a i386-linux machine and I want to compile a kernel for the
ia64-linux target.
Do I need to reinstall gcc, binutils and glibc for these, with target
as ia64 during their compilation ?

Kindly help !
