I am looking for some software package for students information for
school, is there any open-source package available?.

This should collect complete student information like:

student details, collect student grade/marks info, also staff details.

Having been in the same situation there are 2 you can try

ischoolad Works ok but needs tweaking to run properly on Linux File problems
with file names being or not being capitalized

OPenAdmin is another and more widely used. It uses Perl I think
