Can"t turn on Windows Firewall

Can"t turn on Windows Firewall

am 17.01.2006 23:29:11 von ashams80

Hello all,

I have a Windows XP (with SP2) and I am trying to turn on my Windows
Firewall, however, the option is grayed out. I am logged on as
administrator. I am not on a domain and all the settings for Windows
Firewall are Not Configured in my Local Security Policies. I have run
Ad-Aware, Stinger, HiJackThis, and Norton Antivirus and they have not
found any malware or viruses. I don't know if a virus or malware had
gotten in and changed the registry or what. Any help is greatly
appreciated!

Try the following links:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy /depfwset/default.mspx

http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-3016.html

Failing that, go to http://www.goggle.com and search using "windows xp sp2
firewall grayed out" (minus the quote marks)

Thanks for the help however, I didn't see much to help me out. Pretty
much everything that I have seen is that either I don't have rights
(but I am administrator) and that there may be Group Policy Settings
blocking it (however, everything is set to Not Configured). Any
thoughts? Thanks.

In case anyone comes up with the same problem, I realized that a
setting in the registry was changed. I changed it from 0 to 1.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE FIREWALL
