For all those interested in bug 712 and 914 there is some new info in
the comments of 914.

It appears this is quite a sticky problem.... any comments / ideas would
be welcomed.
Perhaps if the greater MySQL-community can tie this down enough then the
bug may get assigned to someone at MySQL :-)
