Japanese charset

Sir,

I found out that the "口"(kuchi) character found in Japanese names cannot be
inserted to MySQL. I am using visual basic 6 and MyODBC 3.51.06 as my client
and tried MySQL 4.0.13 and MySQL 4.1.0 but still failed.
