BLOCKING

Can anyone please tell me if there is anyway of blocking an IP number from
visiting your website without stopping every other IP from visiting.

Re: BLOCKING

It can be done, but the problem is that IP addresses for people visiting your site are
"Dynamic" and normally change each time a user establishes a new connection.

So if you are trying to block Joe somebody from vesting your site and block what you
thing is his IP address, all he has to do is make a new internet connection and he has a
different IP address.

Or if he's an AOL user, AOL uses proxy servers and IP addresses, so if you block an AOL
proxy IP you could block a whole bunch of visitors who use AOL.

Re: BLOCKING

Several ways to do this, all depends on the situation- most
effective is if you have access to the server and you can
block there, or you can create scripts on pages to redirect
or whatever else

Re: BLOCKING

Hi Steve,

I don't believe this statement is as true as it once was because with advent of always on connections the IP remains constant for
those users.

Re: BLOCKING

True.

With NAT routers and such you can keep the same IP for days.

However, resetting the router or logging into it and disconnecting / reconnecting will
obtain a new IP.

Re: BLOCKING

this isn't a reply. It's a question. Sorry, but I can't seem to determine
where to post in the correct space. Some websites on my computer seem to be
blocked while others are not. Can someone tell me how to unblock these sites?
Thanks,
Scott Alan
