I inadvertently deleted files from the Navigation view (in trying to change
the index/home page) and am desperately trying to locating where they may be
located to retrieve rather than recreate. I've looked in Trash, Temporary
files and performed searches of my C drive, to no avail...are they truly gone
for good?

The only place you will find them is in a backup of your web. If they
have been published they will be on your remote website.
When you delete a file in FrontPage, it is completely deleted.
