Reason for leaving website
I have noticed some people are leaving our site www.orbisoft.com without
downloading the free trial version of the Task Manager 2007 software there.
These people found www.orbisoft.com using a Google or another search
engine,.searching for e.g."task management software".
Question: How can I have a small form pop-up when a *new*, unique visitor
leaves without taking advantage of the free 45-day trial software?
The form could say:
"You are leaving www.orbisoft.com without downloading the Task Manager 2007
free trial version. In order for us to help you and future visitors, can you
say in a sentence why this was?"
The form could also have a button to Download Now.
TIA
Mark
Re: Reason for leaving website
You can w/ a JavaScript popup, but don't bother
- just about all modern browsers will block any automatic popup
If they want your product they will download it
- if not they won't

Consider moving the download link to the top of the page.

Re: Reason for leaving website
Possibly because when people do an internet search for Task Manager,
they are thinking Windows Task Manager, and your product is not what they're looking for.

Re: Reason for leaving website
Consider this post reeks of thinly disguised spam.
His site URL appears three times, the product is mentioned three times
by name, includes the "free trial..." offer, one post and no apparent
return or replies from him...
Am I just being cynical?

Perhaps cynical, but not likely, IMHO ;-)

Re: Reason for leaving website
Yes your right about that. Google Analytics indicate there are quite a few
of those.
Kind Regards

Re: Reason for leaving website
10 points to Tom :)
I wonder what the pop-up blocker penetration % is? My Google Toolbar blocks
mine but I wonder whether IE does it natively?
I wonder if anyone could oblige me with some code to:
1) Check if a Cookie exists "www.orbisoft.com already visiited"
2) If not, give message on leaving www.orbisoft.com/index.htm, "You are
leaving without downloading the trial version. Want to do it now?"
3) If yes, go to download page, if no, popup form with text input for reason
why not.
4) Set the cookie in 1)
5) I know how to put a the reason into a backend Access database with aspx.
The reason I am asking is because I haven't done much JavaScript before.

Re: Reason for leaving website
The other thing is I am in New Zealand so our 9:00 AM is the US East Coast's
4:00 PM. Hence an apparent delay. Hey I have thought of a new word:
"Spamaphobic". Just joking. I appreciate all of the responses anyway.
